Manila Water Foundation (MWF), the social development arm of Manila Water, proudly celebrates another year marked by meaningful growth, stronger community partnerships, and expanded impact through its Water Access, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and environmental programs.
In 2025, MWF reached a total of 918,328 individuals all over the Philippines, demonstrating its commitment to improving lives through sustainable access to water, sanitation, hygiene, and environmental stewardship.
Throughout the year, Manila Water Foundation reinforced its advocacy for universal WASH access by delivering essential services to vulnerable and underserved communities.
In the provinces of Tarlac, Quezon and Basilan, 5,001 individuals now have improved access to clean, running water with the installation and upgrade of water systems, helping ensure that families and institutions have reliable water sources for daily consumption and sanitation.
MWF also strengthened hydration, health and sustainability in schools and public service institutions through the installation of refrigerated drinking fountains (RDFs), enabling 358,175 individuals to benefit from improved drinking water facilities. While 349,645 individuals gained better access to enhanced hygiene facilities through the construction of new handwashing and sanitation facilities.
In times of disasters, MWF’s Agapay program played a critical role in supporting 20,725 households through disaster relief operations that provided much needed WASH support during emergencies.
Beyond WASH, the Foundation made significant strides in environmental sustainability through the La Mesa Ecopark. Through collaborative efforts with partners and volunteers, MWF helped nurture ecosystems by planting 14,132 native forest trees and preparing 2,550 seedlings in its nursery. 139 eco-learning sessions were conducted, generating a total of 28,852 learning hours dedicated to topics such as conservation, biodiversity, and responsible waste management. La Mesa Ecopark also continued to flourish as a hub for environmental engagement, welcoming 117,396 visitors who participated in nature-based learning and recreation experiences.
Volunteerism and innovation remained at the heart of MWF’s operations. In 2025, 62 employee volunteers from Manila Water devoted 487 hours to various community projects, contributing their time and expertise to advance the MWF’s mission.
Under its SIKLO program, MWF also introduced several project innovations such as Bioman, which involves the creation of floating wetlands, and Biosolid which applies the use of the said wastewater treatment byproduct in growing greens, showcasing its dedication to continuous improvement and innovation. In line with its sustainability commitments, MWF upcycled 92 kilograms of old office uniforms into functional furniture pieces under its Wear and Care Program, demonstrating creative approaches to waste reduction and circular economy.
Reflecting on its collective achievements, MWF expressed gratitude for the collaboration of donors, volunteers, partners, and communities whose support shaped a year of shared success.
“Our 2025 milestones reflect what is possible when communities and partners come together for a common purpose. Every program implemented and every life reached strengthens our resolve to continue creating positive change through WASH and environmental initiatives.” Says Reginal Andal, Executive Director of Manila Water Foundation.
As Manila Water Foundation looks ahead to the celebration of their 21st anniversary this month, it reaffirms its commitment to expanding its reach, deepening program impact, and nurturing a healthier, more sustainable future for Filipino communities.
